Kimberly Merrill, AA
Environmental Science Undergraduate
About me
After graduating with honors from Phoenix College, I transferred to Arizona State University’s New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences. I am currently working on a bachelors of science in environmental science with a track focus in conservation and organismal biology. I have worked on projects in wildlife epidemiology, forestry entomology, and community ecology. T.R.A.I.N (Transfer to Interdisciplinary Natural Sciences is the current cohort I am involved in. I was funded by the NSF to work at an entomology lab within the School of Forestry at Northern Arizona University. After three years, I will be complete with an environmental health project involving Madagascar Hissing Roaches.
Research Interests & Experience
My research area interests include ecology, wildlife biology, and environmental science. As I progress through my academic career, I hope to continue research involving ecosystem interactions.

My current research is focused on determing if organic or inorganic lettuce affects the growth rate of Madagascar Hissing Roaches. The project is mentored by Richard Hofstetter, PhD of Northern Arizona University.

Other projects I have worked on include:
-
differientiating the impacts of burned areas on forest regrowth in the Centennial Forest.
-
alpha-diversity data collection of bats in Southern, AZ
-
